Another Cancellation :(
Hi There Readers,
I had hoped I would be posting later tonight about today's photo shoot. Unfortunately that wont be the case. This guy has cancelled on Rich and I three times counting now, at least this time Rich told him he is keeping the deposit if he cancels again! Which is cool, but I still don't get to shoot anything which means no practice for me. I really enjoy my photo shoots with Rich, you see this is why I get so bummed out when a client cancels on us like that....And lately it has been happening a lot! (What can ya do?) Any who Rich and I are stepping up the game.....I don't want to say to much as of yet, but we are going to start offering new styles of shoots, and ideas will be flowing. Well readers another short entry and one of no real importants or interest to you probably, but I didn't want you to think I disappeared! So hopefully this time it will be true when I say this but, (Till the next shoot) take care readers....Happy shooting to you!

Slow Movin!
Hello readers!
So things have been slow mostly due to the holidays but also the crappy weather we have
had! No Photo Shoots latley, no regular work latley.....>WOW>......No nothing lately! I have had
the pleasure of having my girlfriend around for longer than usual which is really nice since I don't
get to see her a lot! But other than that I am kinda going crazy from boredom. Its 2011 and its
time to start making money, money, money.......Rich and I are going to be busier which is good,
that means more photo shoots for us which means I get to learn more and get more practice in! I
talked to my regular job boss and he said things are picking up and we will be working all
week...So that's good as well! Like I said its time to make and save money and not spend so
much of it! I applied for a speciality school which I am not going to disclose the name of at this
moment! (Lets see if I get in first! LOL) Then I will let you all know! But don't read this and
think I am complaining, cause I'm not! I am really happy with my life. I have tons of good friends
and I have a great supportive family and last but never least I have a fantastic girl friend...That
seems to stand by me in anything I do or pursue in my life! So all and all things are great! I hope
everyone has had a good start to their 2011 year, and if not yet I hope it comes! (Hang in there!)
Well till the next shoot....I bid you fare well!

The day we got to play!
So the last shoot Rich and I did was nothing but pure fun....We had been wanting to test out
some new tricks/styles of shooting we had learned. Our model was a great friend of mine, almost
like a lil sister! I had chosen her for two reasons (1. She is pretty! 2. She is not shy and would be
easily comfortable in front of the camera!) So with that said this particular shoot went by with
ease. Any who back to the shoot! We took our model and our gear to a beautiful place in our
town known as the (Granite Dells) where there are two lakes and beautiful granite rock
formations....Which leads to really amazing lighting around sunset as well as breathe taking
shadows! We began the shoot around 4:30pm just before sunset, we started in little caverns
away from the lakes and got a few really beautiful shoots. But when the sunset became
extremely beautiful, we packed up and headed for the long grass on the lake shore! Now these
where the (money makers) the shoots we got at this location were nothing short of cover model
material! (No joke!) We used grid spots and soft boxes for lighting, and at first it was just Rich
shooting with his Canon Eos 5D! But at the end of the shoot we where both shooting the model,
Rich still using his 5D and I was using his Canon 40D....That was fun I did ok he said but I need
to learn how to (Frame the model so to speak) Rule of 3'S.....O I'm a learning! Till the next
shoot...I say good shooting to you all!!!

The Photo Nija!!!!
Well its Monday!! (Boo!) haha. I don't like Monday's very much.....So to keep myself from
having a Monday melt down, I grabbed my ol' 35mm camera and hopped on the motorcycle and
drove off into the forest! I don't think I had any particular idea of what kind of shots I was
looking, but it turns out I had an idea in the back of my head the entire time......As I drove down
the ol' mining road I began to notice all the old rusty cans left behind from the homeless and
mining pioneers! So I pulled over and began to collect them into a small pile of maybe 15-20
cans. I placed them down by the small creek near me in a pattern! Then I gathered as many
fallen leaves as I could find that where still whole and in good shape! I placed the leaves in the
creek water around the cans in a line of leaves if you will....(so basically if you can imagine i took
a needle and thread and threaded all the leaves together, for one to keep then from floating
away, and two it makes them look very naturally connected.) Anyhow as I said above I didn't
think I had any idea of what kind of shot I wanted to find/create....But it turns out I had it pretty
planned out somewhere in the dark spots in my mind! lol! But all the same the shot came out
amazing I shot it in black and white as well as color! I am happy with both prints...Actually I
think I got lucky...The shot just kinda formed itself right before my eyes! (O not to mention I did
this all with the natural lighting no strobes or flashes or reflectors, only the ultra filtered sunlight
due to the overcast conditions!) Happy shooting to you and yours happy holidays! Till the next
jumble of words I type up...Take Care!

The life of a VAL.....AKA....Lighting Assistant...Cont.
Well Rich the Photographer and I had many many shoots lined up for this week....YEAH right?
Wrong all but 3 shoots got canceled on us either do to the clients or the weather...(Mostly the
weather!) Any who its ok to have a little break I suppose. It just gives Rich time to edit shots
and work on things for the gallery and what have you! And it gives me time to SLEEP!!! Working
nights and days is pretty crazy, not to mention trying to fit some FUN in the mix of life/work!
But I feel rested and energized for the next week...Hopefully we do not encounter so many
canceled shoots! Well to all the readers I say thank you for reading and if you feel so inclined
please follow on blogger or find me on twitter as @elogan88.......Another day maybe another
dollar as a VAL...lol! Happy holidays
